Explosions Devastate Taiwanese City, Killing 25 And Flipping Vehicles
The Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung was rocked by a series of gas explosions Friday morning, killing 25 people, injuring 267 others, toppling buildings and flipping vehicles over in the streets.
Reuters says firefighters were investigating reports of gas leaks, but the exact cause of the blasts was unclear. The explosions happened just after midnight and gutted an entire district in the city. Flames shot 15 stories into the air, according to some reports.
Rescue efforts remain underway, and the death toll is expected to rise, officials said. The photos from the scene are unbelievable.
